Turbofuel is an improved version of Fuel Fuel mixed with Compacted Coal Compacted Coal.

Unlocking[]

All Turbofuel recipes require Tier 5 - Oil Processing to be researched, directly or indirectly.

The default Turbofuel recipe is unlocked in MAM Sulfur Research. The research itself costs Compacted Coal Compacted Coal, thus it needs to be researched first. It is one of two MAM researches to cost a Hard Drive Hard Drive, due to formerly being an alternate recipe.

The Turbo Heavy Fuel and Turbo Blend Fuel recipes are unlocked by scanning Hard Drives in the MAM. Each recipe has different prerequisites to appear in the selection pool: Turbo Heavy Fuel requires Compacted Coal Compacted Coal to be researched in MAM Sulfur Research, while Turbo Blend Fuel requires Blender Blenders to be available and Sulfur Sulfur to be researched.

  • Weighted Point is the weighted consumption rate which is calculated by: (resource consumption rate / maximum extraction rate) * 10,000. The lower the better.
  • Energy per item can be used to measure how much power is consumed for the entire production chain. The lower the better.
  • Space refers to building space, excluding belts and pipes. The lower the better.
  • Energy for sinking byproducts are considered, assuming using Conveyor Belt Mk.4.
  • Fuel is assumed to be produced via Diluted Fuel alternate recipe.
  • As 1 m3 of Turbofuel contains 2000 MJ, subtracting its manufacturing energy will show the net energy gain.

Fuel vs Turbofuel Efficiency[]

Using the Turbo Blend Fuel and Diluted Fuel recipes:

This makes Fuel 75% as efficient as Turbofuel, at the cost of Sulfur.

To create 2,000MW of power 60m3/min of Turbofuel is needed or 160m3/min of Fuel is needed. Using the same recipes as before, the TurboFuel is made from 45m3/min Crude Oil and 30 Sulfur/min while the Fuel is made from 60m3/min Crude Oil. This gives Turbofuel a weighted point value of about 82.32 and Fuel a weighted point value of about 51.28 for 2,000MW of power. This means that for weighted resource efficiency Turbo Fuel is about 1.6x as expensive for an equivalent amount of power.

However turning Fuel into Turbofuel raises the maximum potential MW production from 390,000MW from Fuel alone, to 504,000MW (456,000MW via Turbofuel + 48,000MW turning remaining Crude Oil into Fuel)
