S.A.M. Ore, which stands for Strange Alien Metal, is a resource found in the world, both in resource nodes and limited quantity mineable clusters. Some users have reported that the resource nodes eventually stop producing ore. After a while or by restarting the game, the node will produce another small amount of ore. S.A.M. ore nodes can mostly be found in caves or on top of huge rocks.

Obtaining[edit | edit source]

Like any ore vein, S.A.M. can be mined both by hand or with any of the miners.

There are currently 15 S.A.M. Resource nodes in-game; 10 impure and 5 normal.[1] This means the upper limit of harvest rate is 6000 S.A.M. Ore/min (Mk.3 miners, 250% overclock, Mk.6 belt).[2]

Usage[edit | edit source]

S.A.M. Ore can be turned into S.A.M. Ingots, which can then be turned into S.A.M. Fluctuators, used to build Remote Storage and the Converter.

This is currently unavailable in the Alpha, and it doesn't appear to be unlockable in Tier 7 or Tier 8.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

Currently S.A.M. node can only produce a limited number of ore per load game, however there is a normal node located north west of the giant mushroom pit/lake above the gas canyon and near one of the derivable land bridges, which produces an unlimited number. This was done with an non-overclocked Mk.3 Miner (unknown with overclock).
