The Miner Mk.3 is the improved version of the Miner Mk.2 which mines at 400% speed. It is a building used to extract ore resources (Iron Ore, Copper Ore, Limestone, etc.) from resource nodes around the map.

It is unlocked after completing the Tier 7 Milestone: Advanced Aluminum Production.

Mining Speed[edit | edit source]

The formula for Mk.3 Miner mining speed is:

(mining speed)=4*(purity modifier)*(overclock percentage)*60

Purity modifiers; Impure = 0.5x, Normal = 1.0x, Pure = 2.0x.

The mining speed of a Miner Mk.3 is:

Overclocking[edit | edit source]

The Miner Mk.3 can be overclocked to up to 250%, at the cost of greatly increased power consumption.

Running a Miner Mk.3 at 50% yields the same amount of resources as a Miner Mk.2 with slightly reduced energy consumption (9.9 MW instead of 12 MW).

Running a Miner Mk.3 at 25% yields the same amount of resources as a Miner Mk.1 with slightly reduced energy consumption (3.3 MW instead of 5 MW).

Limits of the Miner Mk.3[edit | edit source]

The Miner Mk.3 extraction speed on a pure node is limited by the throughput of Conveyor Belt Mk.5. As it currently stands, the Mk.5 conveyors have a transportation rate of 780 units per minute. In contrast, the Miner Mk.3 can produce 1,200 units per minute on a pure resource node when overclocked to 250%. The maximum clock rate the Miner Mk.3 should be set at on a pure node is calculated as follows:

(mining speed) = 480 * (overclock percentage)

(mining speed) = 780

(overclock percentage) = 162.5%

Rounded up to 163% for maximum efficiency.

This will overproduce by 2.4 units per minute, filling up the Miner's output cargo slot in 41 Minutes and 40 seconds.

Note: This throughput limitation will be removed with the addition of Conveyor Belt Mk.6. as it has been confirmed it will have the transportation rate of 1200 units per minute.
