The Chainsaw is a tool used to cut down all flora in a target area by consuming Solid Biofuel. It allows the Engineer to harvest things that can't be harvested by hand, such as trees, some shrubs, and small rocks, or to clear an area of these things.

Usage[edit | edit source]

To use the chainsaw, approach some flora, such as a tree. The tree will be outlined white if it can be cut down, and then hold down the primary fire (default Left) during the animation. During the cut, the chainsaw cuts all flora in a radius of 5 meters centered at the chainsaw. Some nearby small rocks will also be destroyed and yield limestone or silica, although the rocks can't be targeted directly. All items produced by the destroyed flora will be transferred into the player's inventory.

If the player's inventory is full, then only the targeted flora will be destroyed; no other plants will be cut.

The chainsaw cannot be used as a weapon; it does no damage to any creature.

There are trees that cannot be removed. For instance, the trees to the south of the rocky desert growing on top of rock pillars will not be outlined and therefore cannot be cut down. Most large / giant trees also cannot be targeted.

Fuel[edit | edit source]

The chainsaw uses Solid Biofuel as fuel.

Chainsaw consumes 75 MW and solid biofuel has 450 MJ of energy, which means that a chainsaw consumes 1 solid biofuel every 6 seconds.
