The chainsaw is a tool used to cut down all flora in a target area by consuming Biofuel. It allows the Engineer to harvest things that can't be harvested by hand, such as trees, some shrubs, and small rocks, or to clear an area of these things.

Usage[edit | edit source]

To use the chainsaw, approach some flora, such as a tree. The tree will be outlined white if it can be cut down, and then hold down the primary fire (default Controls) during the animation. During the cut, the chainsaw cuts all flora in a radius of 5 meters around the player. Some nearby small rocks will also be destroyed and yield limestone, although the rocks can't be targeted directly. All items produced by the destroyed flora will be transferred into the player's inventory.

If the player's inventory has no room, then only the targeted flora will be destroyed; no other plants will be cut.

The chainsaw can not be used as a weapon and will not damage any creatures.

Fuel[edit | edit source]

The chainsaw uses Biofuel. As of Experimental Patch 0.3, Solid Biofuel is accepted as fuel.

Chainsaw consumes 75 MW and biofuel has 300 MJ of energy, which means that a chainsaw consumes 1 biofuel every 4 seconds.
